Radiance Clock
The radiance clock tells time using only light! A mesmerizing display of red, green, and blue light displays the second, minute, and hour respectively. It was designed for the desk or office, and lends a friendly ambience to any setting.

Process and context

The Radiance Clock was designed for the Museum of Modern Art Store as part of an ongoing collaboration with my graduate program, the Products of Design program at the School of Visual Arts.

The clock used nano-pixel color LED lights to form the second, minute, and hour "hands," with the colors mesmerizingly blending as the hands passed one another. The body of the clock was prototyped from foam treated with resin, and I programmed it using an Arduino board.

The clock came in two varieties — one intended as a wall clock, which projected light onto the wall, and the other as a desk object. The latter had a friendly wobble with light projected onto an aluminum dome.

The project was co-designed with my colleague Alexia Cohen but was not selected by the Museum shop buyers.
